The variety of hoodoos and sandstone caprocks to be found in the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah wilderness study area of northern New Mexico offers a wealth of photographic opportunities. However, for much of the year, clear skies make the daylight too harsh for good image-making and it is only for a short period at the beginning and end of the day that the soft, sculptural forms in this badlands landscape are revealed to the camera at their best.
