White Pocket in northern Arizona features the most extraordinary, other-worldly landscape of swirling red and white Navajo sandstone, capped in many parts with ‘brain rock’. Exploring the area, I encountered this striking, natural bowl with its impossibly delicate sandstone layers, rolled and formed into a soft organic shape. It was only after the scene had fallen into evening shade that its sculptural form was fully revealed - truly a natural work of art.
