Forest Fire

from £180.00

Limited Edition of 20

Location: Torridon, Scotland

I made this photograph in the course of A year in Torridon, a photographic project I undertook from mid-2022 to mid-2023. I stumbled on this location while scouting the forest on the slopes of Benin Eighe, but the light on that first encounter was very flat. Considering the orientation of the scene, I figured that it would be most interesting to return at sunset, to catch the last rays of the sun hitting the trees in the mid-ground, which would provide separation from the slopes of Slioch in the background. However, the ideal conditions were to elude me and it was only at my fifth attempt that I was able to make this photograph.
