Salen Wrecks

from £125.00

Open Edition

Location: Isle of Mull, Scotland

These wonderful fishing boat wrecks have lain close to the village of Salen, overlooking the Sound of Mull, for the last fifty years or so, slowly decaying. I have seen photographs of them taken some years ago when they were in better condition and looked somewhat out of place, but I think they now blend very well with their surroundings and sit easily in the landscape. This photograph is as much a study of the texture of weather-beaten timber as it is a landscape image, but it is one to which I return frequently..
